Abstract:
The speed of sound in argon has been measured in the temperature range 100 to 304 K and the pressure range 13 to 500 kPa using a spherical acoustic resonator. Values of the second acoustic virial coefficient obtained from the results are in excellent agreement with those calculated from the latest interatomic potential-energy function for this system.
