Infrared absorption of inhomogeneous media with metallic inclusions

Robert P. Devaty

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1989, vol. 157, issue 1, 262-268

Abstract: The absorption of far infrared radiation by small metal particles and metal-insulator composite materials is reviewed. The possibility of observing quantum size effects is examined. Recent experimental and theoretical progress in understanding the anomalous enhancement of the far infrared absorption coefficient is discussed.
