Abstract:
Tungstic oxides are well known for their electrochromic properties and are now intensely studied for application in optical switching devices. In order to modify the absorption characteristics of these oxides in the colored state, we have prepared by alternate deposition cermets of metal particles (Au and Ag) embedded in a tungstic oxide matrix. The optical properties of these inhomogeneous materials have been studied before and after electro-chromic coloration using lithium ions. Interesting changes in the optical behavior have been observed with different filling factors for the metallic component.
