Abstract:
Optical absorption of small Ag clusters deposited on a fused quartz ATR prism kept at 30 and 300 K in a UHV chamber has been measured. It was found that, when clusters become smaller due to the growth on a cold substrate, plasma resonance absorption of free electrons disappears and the change in δεb contributed from bound electrons becomes larger.
