Abstract:
We report results obtained from molecular dynamic simulations of a square lattice and a Sierpinski carpet. First, using a novel algorithm we study the effects of mass disorder on the density of states of the carpet. Then results for the “Participation number” P of a pulse excitation are given. They show a non-monotonic variation of P for fractals at weak disorder. This is attributed to a new type of not localized but “channelized” modes which are described.
