Abstract:
An optical absorption is observed for coldly deposited Al and Cu films, at 4 eV and 1.9 eV, respectively. It is shown that this absorption is due to an electromagnetic resonance existing in the cavities of the porous metal films. An effective medium model is used in order to reproduce the experimental results.
