Abstract:
The recent development of thermal field theory indicates that the concept of a quantum field is of vital significance in understanding what “thermal” is. This opens a new development in statistical mechanics, and has found useful applications in many areas of physics. This paper is intended to summarize the development of thermo field dynamics, and to assess its present situation.
