Abstract:
We study initial conditions and mechanisms of the onset of inflation using the functional Schrödinger picture of quantum field theory in 1 + 2-dimensional Robertson-Walker spacetime. The evolution of the scale factor of the universe is studied numerically by solving the coupled Einstein-matter equations for various initial configurations of the inflation- driving scalar field. In this note we present a sample of our numerical results.
