Thermal heterotic strings

Enrique Álvarez and M.A.R. Osorio

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1989, vol. 158, issue 1, 449-459

Abstract: We discuss the physical properties of the free energy of heterotic strings, emphasizing the possibility of a phase transition at the Hagedorn temperature, T=TH. We also speculate about the nature of the high temperature phase, and about the general properties of strings at very high energies.
