Strings at finite temperature

P. Salomonson and B.-S. Skagerstam

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1989, vol. 158, issue 1, 499-515

Abstract: We review some recent developments of the statistical mechanics of fundamental strings. Various aspects of a classical description, “the heretic string model”, developed by the present authors, which incorporates generic properties of strings in general, as well as a possible interpretation of the “deconfinement transition” for fundamental strings in terms of a space-time with no distance in mean are discussed.
