Abstract:
We derive expressions for the periodic fundamental solution of the linear Navier-Stokes equations for point sources located at the lattice points of a simple cubic lattice. We cast the solution, which was first found by Hasimoto, in a form suitable for fast numerical computation. The proposed algorithm is useful for computer simulations of fluid suspensions with periodic boundary conditions.
