Abstract:
Static light scattering measurements on salt-free aqueous solutions of charged polystyrenesulfonate are reported. Samples of two different molecular weights MW1=3.54×105 g/mol and MW2=1.06×106 g/mol have been investigated in the dilute/semidilute regime. A single broad peak occurs in the scattered intensity. The scattering vector of the peak maximum increases with molecular weight and it scales with concentration as c0.36. The results are compared with previous investigations by means of light-, small angle neutron, and X-ray scattering techniques.
