Abstract:
An approximation for the Gaussian fluctuations of the molecular field is derived by the summation of a finite number of ring diagrams in the vertex renormalized linked-cluster expansion (Brout's high density classification scheme is abandoned). It is shown that the best results are obtained by taking a maximal number of the consecutive ring diagrams on the condition that the transition between the ferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases is continuous. For three-dimensional cubic lattices the critical temperatures differ then by 1% or less from the HTSE estimates. Thermodynamic quantities behave correctly for all temperatures (the specific heat displays at Tc a λ-type finite gap), but the critical indices retain their classical values.
