Abstract: A statistical mechanical analysis of an isotropic, spatially frustrated Ising model is presented. Information from Monte Carlo simulation, low-temperature series and the ϵ-expansion is used to construct the global phase diagram of the model. Whilst this combination of statistical mechanical techniques has been helpful, we also stress the limitations in studies of this type. We discuss the techniques of parallelization and vectorization as applied to simulations of lattice spin models. Where possible, we have made suggestions which may be of help in further elucidating the properties of the lattice model of microemulsions.
