Equations of state of adsorbates with fractal dimension

Jürgen U. Keller

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1990, vol. 166, issue 2, 180-192

Abstract: Isotherms and enthalpies of multicomponent adsorbates with load-dependent adsorption energies, being formed on adsorbates with fractal surfaces (2⩽D⩽3) and being in equilibrium with either real fluid- or ideal gas-adsorptives, are given. The functions proposed are solutions of a set of Maxwell's relations and other thermodynamic consistency conditions. Special cases of the general expressions given are discussed to a certain extent, among them generalizations of the Langmuir-Freundlich and the BET adsorption isotherms.
