Abstract:
It is proved that the radial distribution function g(r12) of classical fluids does not, in general, tend to unity at large interpair separation r12, either for the canonical or the grand canonical ensemble. The defining integral of the static structure factors S(q) at momentum transfer q also needs a suitable modification. The ideas can be explicitly verified for dilute, imperfect gases at q = 0.
