Abstract:
Z. Banach in his recent paper (Physica A 159 (1989) 343) takes a kinetic equation for a one-dimensional gas for analysis of the modified moment method and claims that the Grad moment expansion for distribution function identically satisfies the consistency conditions that appear in the modified moment method. It is shown in this paper that his claim has no validity. Answers to many of his criticisms follow from this invalidity proof. Some other criticisms of his are also responded.
