Ordering transition in a fermi gas interacting with coupled spin sites

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1991, vol. 174, issue 2, 459-478

Abstract: A three-dimensional Kondo lattice Hamiltonian is investigated. The system consists of a spin-12 fermions interacting within a thin band around the Fermi level with N spin-12 lattice sites via an equivalent neighbour ferromagnetic Heisenberg potential. The spins of the lattice sites are coupled by an interaction of the same type. It is shown that the free energy density of the system is equal in the thermodynamic limit to the free energy density of a gas of noninteracting fermions and lattice sites in a mean field. The noninteracting system exhibits a second order phase transition accompanied by ordering of the spins of fermions and lattice sites.
