Quasi-long-range order in anyon superfluids

Daniel Boyanovsky and David Jasnow

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1991, vol. 177, issue 1, 537-543

Abstract: We study a two-dimensional “anyon” gas in which the elementary charged particles are bosons with hard core interactions. We find, in the Bogoliubov approximation, that the anyon gas is superfluid at zero temperature with quasi-long-range order. The quasi-long-range order is a consequence of the long-range statistical interactions. The quasiparticle excitations are bosons, but the spectrum has a (weak) gap and no soft modes of the expected type. At low temperatures the system may be considered an incipient superfluid.
