A quantum kinetic equation for photons in a plasma

D. Tamme and T. Bornath

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1991, vol. 178, issue 2, 376-388

Abstract: Starting from the basic equations for the quantized electromagnetic field, the authors use Bogolyubov's principle of weakening of initial correlations to derive a quantum kinetic equation for photons in a plasma. The simplest approximation leads to the usual equation of radiative transfer. Kirchhoff's radiation law is discussed.
