Ordering transition in a Fermi gas interacting with an Ising chain

J. Maćkowiak

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1992, vol. 180, issue 1, 171-181

Abstract: A one-dimensional Kondo lattice of n spin-12 fermions, interacting ferromagnetically via an equivalent-neighbour Ising potential with an Ising chain, is studied. The free energy per fermion is equal in the thermodynamic limit to that of a non-interacting Fermi gas and an Ising chain in a mean field. It is shown that the system exhibits a second-order phase transition in the case that the coupling in the Ising chain is ferromagnetic or weakly antiferromagnetic and no phase transition in the case that it is strongly antiferromagnetic.
