Ground state properties of a one dimensional frustrated quantum XY model

Abstract:
We have investigated the ground state properties of a frustrated quantum anisotropic XY chain. The ground state energy, short range dimer order parameter and the spin-spin correlation functions are estimated using an exact diagonalisation scheme and a self-consistent Hartree fock method. A phase diagram is also estimated from the spin correlations.
