Abstract:
Phase diagrams of a spin-1 transverse Ising model in a random field on square lattice are investigated by the use of correlated effective field theory. A tricritical point is found in the system, in contrast to the corresponding spin-12 Ising system. The behaviour of the tricritical point is also examined as a function of the applied transverse field.
