A model for spiral growth of a new phase in a Langmuir monolayer

S.A. Pikin

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1992, vol. 191, issue 1, 139-142

Abstract: The electrostatically induced growth of spiral domains in a Langmuir monolayer at the air-water interface is described as the result of modulated distributions of tilt angle and free charges in chiral polarized thin film. The spiral distributions of small perturbations the play role of nuclei for the condensation of a new phase in the metastable range.
