Scaling properties of molecular spectra

E. Shalev, J. Klafter, D.F. Plusquellic and D.W. Pratt

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1992, vol. 191, issue 1, 186-189

Abstract: The concept of multifractality is applied in the analysis of molecular spectra. A scaling relationship is established between moments of the spectral intensities and the experimental resolution. The obtained scaling exponents are shown to support a non-random distribution of intensities. Using the multifractal approach we compare the details of an experimental spectrum with a theoretically generated one.
