Multifractal characterization of petrophysical data

Abstract:
Petrophysical data from oil reservoirs exhibit variability over a wide range of spatial scales. We report a multifractal analysis of thin sections of oil-bearing sedimentary rocks (microsale) and of well log data from large petroleum reservoirs (macroscale), and we demonstrate how the multifractal spectra can characterize different textures of the analysed data.
