SOC and the Bean critical state

Chao Tang

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1993, vol. 194, issue 1, 315-320

Abstract: The concept of the self-organized criticality (SOC) is briefly reviewed. The idea is applied to the Bean critical state in type II superconductors. The relaxation from the Bean critical state is studied. An equation of motion for the vortex lines is proposed, taking into account both the thermal activation and avalanche. A scaling solution is found.
