Abstract:
The interpretation which Rowlinson and Xiao give to the free energy density is at odds with the interpretation we have offered. They claim to show that our picture is incorrect “by means of counter-examples”. To clarify the issue, we indicate how our picture differs from that attributed to us, we give an expanded demonstration that our free energy density does do what we claim, and we discuss how the total free energy could be calculated from our free energy density.
