High-Tc superconductivity: phenomenology and microscopics

Abstract: The Luttinger-Wart sum rule is used as the start-point of a consistent semi-phenomenological description of the one-electron spectrum in solids. For normal metals it is essentially the Fermi-liquid theory but the effects of the Coulomb correlations are explicitly included. It is shown that the BCS theory can be formulated for strongly correlated metals, although the accuracy of this description decreases along with enhancement of Tc.
