Abstract:
We develop a volume integral method in order to compute the electric field within a one-dimensional composite layer above a substrate upon which a normal p-polarized plane wave impinges. Almost all interactions are taken into account since the field is calculated exactly by a moment method. A Monte Carlo simulation yields the mean field. The effective dielectric constant is computed by fitting the results with the analytical expression of the field in a homogeneous layer. We focus our attention on the case of granular metallic films above a dielectric substrate. The peak of resonance and the influence of the substrate are studied.
