Abstract:
The electrical current recorded in a p-germanium crystal experiencing avalanche breakdown is shown to link physical phase transitions with dynamical phase transitions. This link provides a means to illustrate exactly what a dynamical phase transition looks like. The link is demonstrated by showing the existence of phase transition indicia in multifractal spectra that were computed from a simulation of the current time series for such a breakdown.
