Abstract:
The network model is extended by including a Coulombic force. The rates of creation and loss of junctions are assumed to be functions of the second invariant of the rate-of-deformation tensor. The resulting constitutive equation is used to predict the viscosity and the normal stress difference in viscometric flow, as well as the elongational viscosity. The predicted viscometric functions agree with experimental data.
