Abstract:
The dynamics of a lamellar droplet is studied. The inertial moments and friction coefficients are found as a function of the deformation mode. The relaxation time is smaller than the one of a corresponding single-layered vesicle. The relaxation frequency (10 s−1) is of the same order of magnitude as the shear rate at which onions are being formed when a continuous lamellar phase is being sheared at this rate.
