Correlations in two dimensional domain coarsening

Abstract: We present single-bit Monte Carlo simulations of the domain coarsening of a two dimensional binary system of size 1280 × 1280 from a quench at T = ∞ to below the critical temperature Tc with emphasis on cluster distributions and correlations. We study both the conserved order parameter and the non-conserved order parameter. We measure the evolution of the mean cluster size and obtain both the distribution of cluster sizes and the correlations between clusters. Our results are compatible with recent experiments on Ostwald Ripening and numerical solutions of the Cahn-Hilliard equation.
