Abstract:
A two-species surface reaction model of the mixing type is proposed, in which a molecule of one species is adsorbed as a monomer, while that of the other species may be adsorbed as a dimer or a monomer with probability r or 1 − r. A cellular automaton (CA) approach in conjunction with a mean field analysis is given, with results showing that on a square lattice a steady reactive state exists for this reaction system as long as the parameter r is greater than 0.98, and the width of the reaction window increases with the increase of r, in contrast to a previous result of Yaldram and Khan based on Monte Carlo simulations.
