Abstract:
The Brownian diffusion of a particle in a periodic potential when the temperature of the thermal bath fluctuates is studied. The combination of a broken spatial symmetry in potential and time correlations in a fluctuation of temperature can generate directional current. The current can be used to illustrate the movement of motor proteins in some cases.
