On the critical density for continuum percolation of spheres of variable radii

Abstract: We propose an approximate formula to determine the critical percolation density for continuum percolation of non-interacting spheres when the radii of spheres are also random variables. We conjecture that this gives a strict lower bound to the critical density for all distributions of radii.
