Abstract:
Irreversible deposition of line segments on a square lattice initially and randomly occupied with point-like impurities is studied by Monte Carlo simulation. At the late stage of deposition, approach to the jamming coverage is exponential with the same rate as in the case of initially clean lattice. The total jamming coverage decreases when the concentration of impurities p increases and reaches a minimum for the value of p which depends on the length of the line segments. The jamming coverage which make the line segments only, decreases linearly with the concentration of impurities, for low values of p.
