Abstract:
The specification dictated by the specification of a granular ensemble is given and it is argued that randomly shaped, incompressible and perfectly rough grains, all suffer four point contacts. A hierarchy of functions which describe the static equilibrium is set up, and equations for these functions are established. Some applications are briefly discussed.
