(La1−xCex)Al2 specific heat curves in the extended reduced s–d model

Abstract: The reduced s–d model with antiferromagnetically coupled impurity spins is tested on specific heat measurements of (La1−xCex)Al2 for varying Ce concentration c and magnetic field B. The s–d exchange coupling constant J, conduction bandwidth D and coupling between impurities γ2 are adjusted to obtain the best fit of theoretical normalized specific heat ci∗(T,B) with experiment. The agreement between ERs-dM and experimental data, although limited by the different type of magnetic ordering observed in (La1−xCex)Al2 and predicted by the ERs-dM, appears to be satisfactory.
