Rate theory for one-dimensional diffusion

Abstract:
The paper presents a generalization of the earlier developed chemical rate approach for the case of point defect diffusion in an anisotropic material with defect sinks. In the limiting case of one-dimensional diffusion, accurate expressions for the sink strength and the sink screening length are obtained in terms of the sink capture cross-sections for point defects.
