Abstract:
A gas kinetic method for simulating ideal fluids based on the BGK equation is described. The method is extended to model nonideal fluids. The method developed is used to simulate systems described by a Cahn–Hilliard equation coupled to a fluid equation. The results of simulations of binary fluids and surfactant systems are presented. The role of viscosity in the microemulsion phase is investigated.
