Front propagation in epidemiological models with spatial dependence

M.n Kuperman and H.s Wio

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1999, vol. 272, issue 1, 206-222

Abstract: We present two kinds of epidemiological models with spatio-temporal dependence in order to describe the spread of infectious diseases. We include a space and time dependent contact term, substituting the constant contact coefficient used in typical models. Periodic temporal modulations of some parameters corresponding to some epidemic features are considered in order to analyze the possibility of pattern-propagation-like phenomena related to the infectivity and recovery fronts and the surge of travelling waves.
