The role of space fluctuations in kinetics of recombination of charged particles

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2000, vol. 276, issue 1, 1-9

Abstract: The process of aggregation of charged particles generated by the external source and subsequent kinetics of their recombination after switching off an external source (reaction A+B→0) was studied. It was shown that the three-dimensional Coulomb interaction suppresses the aggregation of particles and the concentration decay after switching off the source corresponds to the law of formal kinetics t−1. In two dimension the Coulomb interaction is sufficiently weak and it is unable to suppress completely the aggregation of particles. The concentration law after switching off the source is t−1/3. This analytical result was confirmed by numerical simulation.
