Tsallis distribution functions for charged particles in electric and magnetic fields

A. Rossani and A.M. Scarfone

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2000, vol. 282, issue 1, 212-224

Abstract: Tsallis distribution functions are shown to arise in the case of charged particles in electric and magnetic fields, inelastically interacting with a medium. Explicit results for Maxwell and hard-sphere interactions are provided. The mean energy and the components of the current density are plotted as functions of both the electric and the magnetic fields.
