Abstract:
We study a one-dimensional FitzHugh-like model showing Wenckebach rhythms. We analyze both, the role of the excitation period and the size of the necrotic defect (that is zones with no reaction terms) on the firing number (a well-known evolution parameter). This analysis shows that some frequencies of stimuli which do not affect healthy tissues may induce Wenckebach rhythms in unhealthy ones.
