Abstract:
We have studied the flocculations of colloidal suspensions under shear flows. Using the three-dimensional model constructed on simple-cubic lattice, we have clarified the structural formation of colloidal suspensions and their growth kinetics by computer simulations. In the time development of averaged cluster size, we find a crossover between two different power-law behaviors, where the characteristic time depends on the shear rate of the medium.
