Abstract:
During past 30 years, Professor Wu made important contributions to the development of statistical physics in Taiwan. Before 1974, few people in Taiwan studied statistical physics. Professor Wu visited Taiwan almost every year and brought back the latest development of statistical physics. The study of statistical physics quickly attracted many young people and the number of published papers increased rapidly. In this review article, I describe from my personal experience how Professor Wu helped students and researchers in Taiwan to enter the field of statistical physics and his contributions to its development in Taiwan.
