Abstract: The pyroelectric properties and the Curie temperature of a ferroelectric/ferroelectric superlattice with two alternative layers are studied for the transverse Ising model using the effective field theory with a probability distribution technique. The pyroelectric coefficient of bulk materials shows a sharp peak at the Curie temperature. For large-period superlattices two pyroelectric peaks are found. The pyroelectric peak at low temperatures disappears when the period is very small.
