Abstract:
The symmetrical Poisson–Boltzmann structural properties of a colloid–counterion system are analyzed in the neighbourhood of the gas–liquid critical point. The de-ionized colloidal suspension is modelled by a primitive model electrolyte having point counterions. A small counterion–counterion attraction is predicted and a shallow minimum seen in the colloid–counterion radial distribution functions.
